코로나19(COVID-19)

이렇게 험난한 한 해가 될 줄은 몰랐다.

아직도 기승을 부리고 있으니 2021년도도 순탄치는 않으리라.

코로나19가 끝나도 코로나19 이전의 세상으로 돌아가지는 못하리라.

겨울준비를 하면서 온실의 보온과 수도관의 동파방지를 위해서 정온전선으로 20~30W급 열선을 세 개 만들었다.

온실에 두 개, 싱크대 하부에 한 개를 설치하였는데 시간이 지날수록 기능이 떨어지더니 급기야 기능이 정지되어 버렸다.

구입할 때에도 께름칙하였지만 아직도 정온전선이 남아 있기에 싱크대 하부용으로 한 개를 다시 만들어서 교체하였다.

이것도 유통기한이 있는지, 불량품인지 모르겠다.

정온전선의 기능이 시원치 않아서 온실과 사워실은 발열전구로 대체하였다.

사워실은 퇴수한 다음에는 불필요하겠지만 온실은 겨우내 가동시켜야 하는데 밤에는 훤하게 불빛이 새나간다.

성북동집에 거주한다면야 상관이 없겠지만 집을 비웠을 때에도 밤에 불이 켜 있는 것이 부담스러워 불빛이 보이지 않도록 하였다.   

뚜껑의 씌우니 불빛도 새나가지 않고 단지가 따뜻하다.

작년까지는 크리스마스 한 달 전에 연말장식을 하였다.

올해도 딸내미가 연말장식을 하러 성북동집에 갔지만 다른 일정이 생겨서 하지 못하고 올라왔다.

코로나19로 혼란스런 시절이라 연말장식이 뭔 필요가 있을까 하는 생각이 들기도 하였다.

아내가 본채 데크에 장식등을 사용하지는 않았지만 연말장식을 간단하게 설치하였다.

온실에 있는 꽃들도 차츰 시들어가는 추세인데 카네이션은 아직도 싱싱하다.

성북동에서 지내다보니 하루 동안의 기온 변화가 극심하다.

햇살이 비추면 한낮에는 덥기도 하지만 구름이 낀 날이나 해가 지면 곧바로 추위가 닥친다.

나름 추위를 잘 견디는 편인데도 밤에 이불속에 있으면 얼굴이 시리기도 하다.

자연스럽게 춥다는 말이 나온다.

햇살이 비치는 아침이면 실내나 실외나 기온차이가 없다.

깡통에 불을 피워서 불도 쬐고, 밥도 하고, 커피도 끓이고, 고구마도 구워 먹고....

'나는 자연인이다.'에서 섭외가 오면 어쩔까?

흐린 날은 한 두 집의 화목보일러에서 내뿜는 연기가 온동네를 뒤덮는다.

성북동집에서는 앞산에 가려서 범바위가 일부분만 보이기에 홀목골 올라가는 입구로 나왔다.

어제 신원사와 갑사에서 돌아오며 오늘 저녁에는 계룡시에 가서 따뜻한 물로 목욕이나 하면서 숙박을 하자고 하였다.

식구들에게도 성북동에 더 머물다가 내년 초에 서울집으로 가겠다고 연락하였다.

영하 7~8도 정도는 올 겨울에도 성북동집에서 견디어 냈으니 별 일이 있겠냐는 생각이었다.

코로나19로 성북동집에 있든지 서울집에 있든지 누구를 만날 상황이 아니기는 마찬가지가 아닐까?

그런데 엊저녁에 일기예보를 보니 바람이 심하여 체감온도가 영하 20도까지 내려가는 강추위가 일주일 이상 계속된단다.

동계훈련도 아니고, 추위에 고생할 필요가 있겠나하는 생각에 계획을 바꾸어 오늘 오후에 서울집으로 가기로 하였다.

서울집으로 가기 위한 준비를 하며 틈틈이 성북동집 꽃밭의 겨울 풍광을 찍었다.

온실....

마지막으로 전기온수기와 수도배관 속에 있는 물을 빼는 작업을 하였다.

퇴수작업은 내가 해야 마땅하겠지만 가끔 성북동에 다녀가야 하는 아내가 알고 있어야하기에 아내가 퇴수작업을 하였다 .

나는 말로 만 하고....

자연적으로 퇴수가 완료된 다음에는 씽크대와 세면기 호스에 있는 물까지 입으로 불어내서 최대한 물을 빼냈다.

샤워실 배수구도 뽁뽁이로 덮고.... 

퇴수작업은 한 시간 가까이 소요되었다.

한겨울에는 환경이 좋은 서울집에서 생활하며 가끔 상태를 살피러 성북동에 다녀오자고 하였다.

막상 서울집으로 올라가려니 서운함에 가슴이 먹먹하다.

올해는 코로나19로 좀 불편하더라도 성북동집에서 지내는 것이 좋지 않을까하는 생각과,

내가 6월 말부터 지방출장을 다니기에 지리적으로 유리하여 성북동집에 머물 기회가 많았다.
