8월 하순에 서울집 하자보수를 위하여 급하게 성북동집을 떠난 후 늦장마와 태풍 3개가 지나간 9월 중순(20200911) 다시 왔었다.

그사이 제멋대로 자라고 장마와 태풍피해로 엉망이 된 꽃밭과 텃밭이 수습되고 잡풀도 어지간히 제거하였다.

이제 서리가 내릴 때까지는 잡풀에 크게 신경을 쓰지 않아도 되지 않을까?

나야 출장 다니다는 핑계거리가 있었지만 아내는 모기와 싸우며 잡풀을 제거하고 꽃밭과 텃밭을 가꾸느라 고생을 많이 하였다.

아내는 자기가 하고 싶은 것을 했다고 생각하니 성북동집을 꾸려가는 원동력인 셈이다.

내일 서울집에 가기로 하였으니 오늘은 일을 하지 말고 푹 쉬자고 한다.

 

 

허수아비 윌슨은 꽃구경을 하는 것이 임무이다.

 

 

 

밤 기온이 내려가면서 며칠 전부터 밤에는 창문을 닫고 지냈다.

모기도 훨씬 덜 덤벼들어서 모처럼 야외데크에서 아침밥을 먹었다.

아침부터 서울집으로 출발할 준비를 서둘렀다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

작년에는 꽈리를 수확하지 않고 늦가을까지 두었더니 거뭇거뭇한 반점이 생기기에 올해는 일찌감치 수확하였다.

이제까지 눈에 띄지 않던 것이 있어서 여러 줄기인데 땅에 쓰러져서 묻은 흙을 닦아냈다.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

비름나물도 뜯고....

 

 

 

고구마도 캤는데 생각보다 많이 달려서 한 포기만 캤다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

고춧대도 잘라서 고추를 따고 고춧잎도 훑어냈다.

 

 

 

장미는 몇 번째 피는지도 모르겠다.

쑥부쟁이

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

꽃밭 북쪽에 심은 도라지를 모두 캤다.

3년 자란 도라지인데 동네분들이 더 오래두면 썩는다기에 캤는데 더러는 썩기도 하였지만 2년차 보다 크지도 않은 듯하다.  

 

 

 

도라지는 캐자마자 껍질을 깠더니 껍질이 훨씬 잘 까진다. 

 

 

 

어제 WS가 가져온 마늘과 양파 초절이도 나누어 담고, 여름내 수확한 아삭이고추 절임과 깻잎 절임도 서울집으로 가지고 가려고 나누어 담았다.

긴 장마와 태풍으로 채소 작황이 나빠서겠지만 엊그제 진잠 아파트 앞 길거리에서 파는 시원찮은 배추 한 포기가 만 원이란다.

야채가 귀한 요즈음에도 성북동에서 지낼 때에는 풍성하지는 않더라도 잘 먹고 있는 셈이다. 

 

 

 

진잠에서 사온 양파와 여름내 먹고 남은 감자도 나누어 담았다.

 

 

 

아내가 그린 빨강머리 앤과 메튜 아저씨....

앤의 엉뚱한 질문에 약간 놀라며 얼굴이 빨개지는 메튜를 표현하기 위해서 눈 부분은 서너 번 고쳤단다.
