도라지꽃이 피기 시작하였다.

한 때 성북동집 꽃밭을 화려하게 장식하였던 끈끈이대나물꽃은 늦둥이들만 남았다.

씨앗이라도 받아야 할 텐데.....

 

 

 

일찍 일어나서 세종시로 출근하기 이전에 장미 줄기가 너무 자란 것은 자르거나 바람에 피해가 생기지 않도록 장미아치에 고정시켜 주었다.

장미는 꽃이 아름답기는 하지만 장미 흑반병 등 병충해의 영향이 큰 것이 문제이다.

 

 

 

내일 아침 일찍 출발하여 서울집으로 돌아가야 하기에  퇴근해서 집에 돌아오자마자 텃밭에 심은 감자를 캤다.

역시 전문 농업인이 아니라서인지 감자의 크기가 작은 것부터 큰 것까지 고르게 달렸다.

심을 때에는 얼마 되지 않았는데 그나마 심은 후 트랙터로 밭을 갈면서 흩어져서 추가로 심었더니 거의 대부분이 살아나서 많아진 것이었다.

삽으로 한 포기씩 파냈는데 엊그제 비가 내려서 젖은 흙이 삽에 달라붙어서 땀을 뻘뻘 흘리며 캤다.

생각 같아서는 옷을 간편하게 입고 싶은데 저녁때라서 모기가 웽웽거리니 어쩔 수 없다.

포기 수에 비하면 수확량은 적지 않을까 생각되기는 하지만 라면 박스로 세 박스쯤 캤다.

늘 신세지는 누님도 좀 드리고 성북동에서 먹을 것을 남기고 한 박스는 서울집에서 먹으려고 차에 실었다.

내가 감자를 캐는 과정에서 늘 하던 일이 아니라 헤매는데 모기에 물리지 않으려고 중무장을 하니 땀이 범벅이 되었다.

마찬가지로 아내도 모기는 물어대고 나는 잔소리 해대니 정신을 차리지 못하고 엉거주춤하는 바람에 서로 신경이 날카로워 지기도 하였다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

줄기가 시퍼런 몇 포기를 남기고 감자를 캔 자리는 갈퀴로 이랑을 정리해 주었다.

아내는 낮에 머위를 일부분 잘라서 밤늦도록 껍질을 벗긴 후 삶았다.

 

 

 

대추방울토마토는 익은 것 세 알을 따고, 아삭이고추도 땄다.

일찍 일어나자마자 서울집으로 돌아갈 준비를 서둘렀다.

봄부터 자주 머물던 성북동집을 떠난다는 것이 서운하기는 하지만 이제라도 본업이 시작되니 다행스러운 일이 아닐까?

아내는 4월 3일에 왔으니 석 달 만에 서울집으로 올라가게 되었다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

봄에 꽃이 피기 시작해서 수선화, 갓, 유채, 애기똥풀, 명자나무, 꽃잔디, 철쭉, 쑥갓, 종지나물, 매발톱, 금낭화, 정향나무, 작약, 할미꽃, 라일락,

샤스타데이지, 패랭이, 화초양귀비, 금계국, 붓꽃, 장미, 달맞이꽃, 끈끈이대나물, 우단동자, 수례국화, 하늘나리가 연달아 피었다가 졌다.

봄꽃이 지고 채송화, 백일홍, 메리골드, 설악초가 본격적으로 피기 시작 할  때까지의 요즈음은 꽃밭이 한숨 돌리는 시기인지 약간 썰렁하다.

 

 

 

별채 동쪽 벽체에 더덕과 마 넝쿨을 올렸더니 볼만하게 되어간다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

엊저녁에 옆집 안ㅇ권에게 감나무와 엄나무에 농약을 하라고 부탁하였다.

외벽과 빨래와 벗어 놓은 신발 속에서 애벌레가 꿈틀거리고, 병충해에 강한 줄 알고 있었던 매리골드도 꽃만 남기고 갉아먹기도 하였다. 

 

 

 

서울집으로 출발 할 때에는 언제나 메인 전기 스위치를 내려서 전기를 완전히 차단하였었다.

그러나 이번에는 냉장고 이외의 모든 콘센트를 뽑아서 냉장고에 식품을 넣어둔 채로 서울집으로 출발하였다.

아내가 3개월 만에 성북동을 떠나기는 하지만 머지않아서 돌아와야 하겠다기에 성북동에 드나들기 시작한 이후 최초로 완전한 단전을 하지 않았다.

 

 

 

아쉽게도 완숙토마토는 아직 익지 않아서 한 알도 따지 못하였다.

 

 

 

성북동을 떠난다는 것이 서운하다.

그나저나 나는 본업이 시작되었으니 한동안 성북동에 오기는 힘들지 않을까?
